BLOGGERS BUZZING

With most of the world at home and on their phones or computer devices, the internet has seen a spike in the number of users accessing the internet daily for news and even entertainment. It is no secret that bloggers, vloggers and even journalists now have the time to keep up with their personal blogs along with their daily work deadlines.

For journalist’s blogging is very important as it allows a space for the journalist to become creative within their own ideas, allowing the audience to get to know the journalist better. Being a journalist; writing news articles for a particular media entity; one can never voice your opinion on any conflict. It is within the principles of journalism that all journalists remain objective and free from any bias when writing news articles. We only stick to the FACTS! Voicing your opinion can be dangerous within news pieces because they might associate you with a particular view on an issue which could create conflict of interest or bring bad press to the news entity you’re working for. However, Blogging solves this problem. If you have a personal blog that is not connected to any of the work you do at a media house, you may voice your opinion on any issues you feel like addressing because it is your PERSONAL blog. A space allowing audiences to get to know you and your thoughts.

As a student journalist, blogging is important to me as I am able to create work pieces that I can use when applying for a full-time job one day. It gives me the practice to give my opinion on certain issues, allows me to equip myself with the skill of writing articles for both digital and mobile journalism.
